I’m interested in volunteering. How do I get started?
To get started, simply submit a volunteer application online. After we’ve had an opportunity to go through your application, we’ll contact you and let you know what the next steps are.
Is there a minimum age for volunteering?
The minimum age requirement for working at Habitat ReStore is 16. This is a Habitat International regulation. Youth age 16 and older may engage in most all ReStore activities, provided they are not designated hazardous activities.
Please see Youth Volunteer Guidelines
What days can I volunteer?
Habitat ReStore offers volunteer opportunities during store hours, Tuesday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
What kind of commitment is ReStore looking for?
For the best use of resources and service to Habitat ReStore, volunteers make an initial commitment of two shifts per month for three months. Shifts are four hours long and go from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
For those unable to make the commitment, ReStore also offers one-time volunteer opportunities every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at both our East and West side locations.
Are there opportunities for group volunteering?
Yes! ReStore offers group volunteer opportunities for up to six people per shift at each store. Click here to learn more.
Can I fulfill my court-assigned service hours with Habitat Restore?
It depends. We can’t accept any volunteers with felony charges or retail theft in their background. Please call the volunteer services team for an initial phone interview at 608.661.2813 x 3.
How physically demanding is volunteering?
ReStore offers a variety of volunteering opportunities that require varied levels of physical activity and ability. If you have any physical limitations, please make note of these in your volunteer application, and we’ll be sure to match you with volunteer opportunities that best meet your abilities.
I am a former volunteer. How do I get involved again?
Email our Volunteer Services Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org! We would love to hear from you and talk about ways to get involved. Depending on how long it has been since you were a volunteer, it is possible that we will ask you to fill out another application to update us on what you have been doing since you were last with us.
