Communications and Advocacy Manager, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County
This position will be responsible for managing and overseeing execution of all communications for the affiliate and the Habitat ReStores. They will collaborate with product managers on sales and marketing goals, then develop budgets and communication plans to execute communication and advocacy messages in support of those goals.

A. Web Site/Social Media
Responsible for all Habitat content shared through the website and various forms of social media.
Manage, review and update content weekly to ensure timeliness.
Work with Habitat photographers to maintain updated photos on all sites.
Manage the vendor relationship with the site host to suggest and implement revisions to format/sections.
Responsible for the coordination of the monthly e-newsletter/e-alert distribution.
Work with volunteers and staff to maximize HFHDC presence in social media.
B. Hearthstone Newsletter/Annual Report and Print Collateral
Oversee all design and content shared through direct mail and print collateral to ensure Habitat’s standards are met.
Communicate with CEO and staff to determine and approve content.
Write/edit articles.
Coordinate graphic design, layout and printing with outside vendors.
Coordinate and approve mailing list and general distribution.
C. Publicity
Responsible for all Habitat content for media driven communications
Prepare media alerts, news releases and public service announcements and distribute to appropriate contacts in the industry.
Manage the content of Habitat communications library, including the affiliate fact sheets, talking points and family story and photo libraries.
Coordinate ongoing publicity/marketing plan as needed for special projects, i.e. advocacy, ABWK, financial capability and family recruitment.
D. Volunteer Relationships
Serve as staff liaison to Marketing & Communications Committee
Manage ongoing relationships with satellite and campus chapter representatives to promote build activities.
E. Marketing Communications Management
Communicate with product managers (i.e. ReStore Director, department managers) to determine market trends and needs, then write and execute communication plans to support their departments.
Develop and implement budget for all communications plans
Liaison to advertising agency
Monitors brand and logo integrity
F. Advocacy Messaging
Work with CEO to prepare advocacy messages.
Respond to policymaker requests for information
Recommend strategies to communicate more effectively with policymakers and incorporate grassroots efforts in our communication plans
G. Additional Responsibilities
Maintain historical files of all communication activities for the affiliate and ReStore.
Assist in event coordination including invitations and programs, as needed
Order home site signs as needed

This individual must understand and appreciate the mission of HFH. Qualified candidates should possess excellent interviewing, writing and editing skills and knowledge of design. General marketing communication skills required. Knowledge of web and social media software required (web management software, Linked In, FaceBook, etc.). Photography skills preferred.

Journalism, communications or marketing experience required; specific experience in web site content management a plus. Must possess strong computer skills in Outlook and MS Office (particularly Word and Excel). Contact Management, database knowledge preferred.

BA or BS in Communication, Public Relations or Marketing or equivalent required.

Administrative Assistant/Receptionist, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures in order to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

A. Maintain office services
Serve as front line for customer service; face of Habitat to clients on phone and at front desk
Establish office standards and procedures.
Monitor emails sent to general HFHDC address and forward or reply as necessary.
Update contact lists.
Responsible for negotiating office equipment contracts.
Maintain office equipment and order office supplies.
Transfer and dispose of records according to retention schedules and policies.
Organize and maintain office workspace, kitchen and storage areas.
Create electronic files for contracts and file hard copy in centralized contract file.
Open and distribute mail.
Send lien waivers to subcontractors.
Extra duties as assigned.

B. Donation Acknowledgements
Assist Development Department with donation entry and acknowledgement letters.
Assist Development Department with acknowledgement letter updates in Raisers Edge software.
Assist with updating records and database maintenance.

C. Internal Controls
Provide internal control for deposit verification.
Manage petty cash.
Scan and deposit checks electronically.

This individual must understand and appreciate the mission of HFH. Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, along with a very strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate well with others and work in a fast-paced team environment is required. Must be able to deal with all kinds of individuals and remain consistent in keeping a professional demeanor. Must possess knowledge of customer service, how to apply it, along with excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to organize time, thoughts and energy on the job is essential.

This position requires the ability to do one or more of the following throughout the day: stand, walk, sit, bend and reach above and below shoulder level. Involves frequent repetitive motion (typing, filing, etc.).

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ administrative experience required. Must possess basic computer skills in Outlook and MS Office (particularly Word and Excel), and possess exceptional data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and low occurrence of errors.

Requires the equivalent of a four-year high school diploma.
