How long have you been working at the ReStore? Since 2004

What’s your favorite part of working at the ReStore? There are a lot of things I like, but I think my favorite is setting  up the tile in a way that plants a seed of an idea in our customer’s mind- they can buy the tile and make their dream come true!

Previous or current profession:  Educator MMSD

First job:
Cleaning at a motel on the beltline – not because I minded cleaning, but the people left the oddest, most bodacious messes in their rooms knowing that a maid would be in to clean up – I lasted one week!

Hobbies: Biking, running, swimming, reading, going to the movies, running with my dog Gus at the dog park, volunteering At HFH at destination builds and the Habitat Restore and build site in Dane County, charity volunteer for ACS, working on my home and gardening!

My friends describe me as: Busy, hardworking, relentless and strong!

What is the strangest item you have seen come through the ReStore? It was something that no one knew what it was – I asked every manager – and they all said basically the same thing – “I don’t know, throw it in the recycle bin” – so I did!

Favorite memory, or what you like about working at the ReStore? Two things: Our work makes affordable housing possible for families each year when people buy materials from the Habitat ReStore and the bazillions of  pounds of building materials that are diverted from the landfills.  Everybody wins!
